Daedalus Reef
5–500m
Also known as Abu Kizan, a 400m x 100m standalone reef ~90km from Marsa Alam, with a lighthouse built in 1863 and rebuilt in 1931. A well-known dive for pelagics — hammerhead sharks especially — and an abundance of corals.
Elphinstone
5–60m+
A long finger-like reef running north to south in the open Red Sea. Steep walls drop to the depths on the east and west sides, while the north and south ends are marked by submerged plateaus where sharks often swim by to feed on the reef fish.
